Waterford Township Qualifies for 2008 National Extrication Competition*

Waterford Township Fire Department participated in the Mason-Dixon Extrication Competition in York, PA. The Mason-Dixon Competition was held over 2 days with teams from 4 states and 2 countries. During the extrication competition teams participated in 2 scenarios, a Limited Pit which allows teams to utilize all hand tool and saws but not hydraulic tools. The second is the Unlimited Pit which allows rescuers to use all hand tools and powered hydraulic. Each pit consists of a simulated motor vehicle collision with one person entrapped; these scenarios are limited to 20mins.

Waterford Twp. Fire Dept. sent Chief James Jankowski, Deputy Chief Dave Cilona, Captain Robert Gardner, Lt. Scott Walker, Lt. Bill Webb, and FF Steve Silcott, to this year’s competition. Waterford Twp. placed 3rd in the Limited Pit, 3rd Overall, and 2nd in the Region. The teams from Chili, NY and Ottawa, Canada placed 1st & 2nd. This finish qualifies Waterford Twp. for the 2008 National Rescue Competition being held in NY.
